ANOTHER year with steady wing has almost flown by; and again -- spared by our heavenly Father's hand through all the changeful seasons - we pause to offer a few prefatory words to our readers. St. Paul tells us that we must always—not occasionally, or at set intervals, but always—be abounding in the work of the Lord. And Christian experience proves to us how true are his words. One with the Master, our mission is to carry out and extend His work. True, we cannot effect the wonders or work the miracles that He did; but, as, in going about to do good, He ever sought His Father's glory, so we may follow in His footsteps. Weakly, with many a stumble, seeing as in a glass, darkly, discerning the Master as it were afar off, we yet can follow. Having the love of Christ in our hearts, we shall also have a love for souls; and, in seeking to bring these to Christ, the most untiring, unflagging life shall find no lack of work. According to the ability, then, that God giveth us, let us renew our courage and spend and be spent in Christ's cause. And who shall say that the handful of secd cast in the ground shall not produce a rich and golden harvest ? It is incumbent on every Christian-how much so on every faithful
