LONDOS: SHAW AND SOXS, FETTER LAXE AND CRANE COURT, E.C..

PREFACE.

In this work, which I have written principally for the use of students, and in order to assist them in their examinations, I have endeavoured to show as concisely as possible the procedure relating to indictable offences. I have also shortly referred to and explained some of the principal rules and maxims of the Criminal Law,-also will be found in this work a short treatise on the law of evidence particularly applicable to criminal cases.

The Summary Jurisdiction Act, 1879, is referred to and it

is shown in what cases indictable offences can be dealt with

summarily under that Act.
