ACKNOW

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS TO CORRESPONDENTS. We are finally determined not to notice the Poems mentioned by Caftigator. As we defpair of correcting the evil, we will not, by our cenfure, add to its publicity. When Lais had been called to trial, and had difplayed her charms before her judges, fhe became more famous than ever, and had fifty lovers where he had one before.

We are furprised at the further expoftulation of Mr. W. Bham. The latter part of his alternative we certainly thall not take, because we abhor injuftice. Nor can we be convinced, without much re-examination, that juftice at all requires the other at our hands. We conceive that our two articles on the subject contain a great part of the proof of what we have afferted; and that the whole tendency of the Hiftory implies it. But to a temperate remonstrance we are always ready to attend, and certainly will attend in the present inftance.

LITERARY INTELLIGENCE.

Mr. Gell, whofe fplendid work on the Topography of Troy was fo well received, has ready for publication a fimilar work on the claffic ground of Ithaca.

The twelfth Volume of Donovan's British Infects will be published in the Course of the prefent Month.

ERRATA.

In our account of Mr. Quin's Speech (April, p. 440.) we committed an inadvertent error, in faying that Mr. Birch's original motion was carried. We were thinking of the second motion for the Addrefs, which was voted.
