A.D.1809. Ireland, for the erecting, establishing, fupporting, and maintaining of any Publick Infirmaries or Hofpitals, wherein any fpecial Provifions have been made by any Act or Acts in force in Ireland; and a Sum not exceeding the Sum of Five hundred Pounds fhall be accordingly prefented and raised in fuch Counties of Cities and Counties of Towns, under the faid recited A&t of the Forty-fifth Year, and this A&t.

II. Provided always, and be it enacted, That whenever it shall happen that in any fuch County of a City or County of a Town in Ireland, there fhall be Two or more Infirmaries or Hofpitals entitled to the Benefits of the faid recited A&t of the Parliament of Ireland, for erecting and eftablishing Publick Infirmaries or Hofpitals, all and every fuch Sum of Money not exceeding in the Whole the Sum of Five hundred Pounds, as fhall be fo prefented and raised under and by virtue of the faid recited A&t of the Forty-fifth Year and this Act, fhall be equally divided between and applied among fuch feveral Infirmaries or Hofpitals in fuch County of a City or County of a Town, and fhall be paid over by the Treasurer of fuch County of a City or County of a Town to the feveral and refpective Treasurers of the faid refpective Infirmaries or Hofpitals, in equal Shares and Proportions.

An Act for increafing the Rates of Subfiftence to be paid to
Innkeepers and others on quartering Soldiers.

monent Local Militia Force, under certain Refriations for the Defence of the Realm: And Whereas it is expedient that the faid A&t should ⚫ be amended and rendered more effectual, and that further Provifion 'fhould be made for carrying into Execution the Purposes thereof; may it therefore please Your Majefty that it may be enacted;' And be it enacted by the King's moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament affembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That in every Cafe in which His Majefty fhall by any Warrant under His Royal Sign Manual have ordered and directed, or fhall here. be directed to be after order or direct, that the Local Militia of any County shall be fupplied by ballotted or enrolled under the faid recited A&, it fhall be lawful for Order of SecreHis Majefty at any Time thereafter, by any Order of his Principal tary of State Secretary of State, to direct the fupplying any Deficiencies or filling without His up of any Vacancies, or the balloting or enrolling Men in fuch County ways from Time to Time, without any further or other Warrant or Order of His Majefty for that Purpose, and notwithstanding any Sufpenfion of Ballot for the regular Militia.

Provided always, and be it further enacted, That it fhall be lawful at any Time before the Local Militia of any County fhall be completed to the full Amount of Six Times the Quota of the original Militia, and alfo at any Time thereafter when any Vacancies fhall arife in fuch Local Militia, whether any fuch Order or Direction fhall by Deficiencies or Warrant or otherwife have been made or given for the fupplying the not, until Local Deficiencies or Vacancies in fuch Local Militia or not, for any Perfons Militia be (as well Members of Volunteer Corps as others,) voluntarily to enrol themselves in the Local Militia of fuch County, according to the Provifions of the faid recited Act and this A&t, until the full Number of Men required by virtue of the said recited Act in fuch County fhall be completed.

III. And be it further enacted, That when and fo foon as any Vacancies fhall Members of any Volunteer Corps fhall have transferred themselves into the Local Militia of any County, or any Perfons fhall have voluntarily enrolled themfelves in fuch Local Militia, all Vacancies or

Deficiencies thereafter arifing in the full Number of Perfons who shall have been fo enrolied in fuch Local Militia, by any fuch Perfons enlifting or entering into His Majefty's Army, Navy, or Marines, or engaging as Subftitutes, or enlifting as Volunteers in the Regular Militia, or by Difcharge, Abfence, Defertion, Death, or Expiration of Service, or Promotion of Private Men to be Serjeants and Corporals, or otherwise, shall be filled up without any Order or Direction of His Majefty, or His Principal Secretary of State for that Purpose, and notwithstanding any Sufpenfion of Ballot tor the Regular Militia, and notwithstanding the whole Number of fuch Local Militia fhall, together with the Volunteers ferving in and for the County, Divifion, or Parish, in which fuch Deficiencies may exift, or Vacancies fhall have arifen or may arife, be more than equal to Six Times the Amount of the Quota of Regular Militia of fuch County; any Thing in the faid recited A&t to the contrary notwithstanding.

IV. Provided always, and be it further enacted, That no fuch Deficiencies or Vacancies in any County in which the Number of Perfons who have transferred themfelves into the Local Militia, fhalk be more than equal to Six Times fuch Quota as aforefaid, fhall be the Proportion. fupplied or required to be fupplied until the Number of fuch Local Militia fhall be reduced below the Proportion of Men required for fuch County.

V. And be it further enacted, That it fhall be lawful for any Perfon ballotted or enrolled to ferve or ferving in the Local Militia to enlift or enter into the Regular Militia under any A of this Seffion of Parliament for completing the Militia, at any Time except during fuch Portion of the Period of being affembled for the Purpose of annual Training and Exercife, as His Majesty fhall by any Order made in that Behalf preferibe, and the Enilting or Entry of every fuch Man fhall be immediately certified by the Officer with whom fuch Man fhall have enlifted or entered, to the Officer commanding the Regiment, Battalion, or Corps of Local Militia from which fuch Man fhall have enlifted or entered; and all Vacancies arifing by any tuch enlifting or entering as aforefaid, fhall be fupplied in fuch Manner as any other Vacancies in the Local Militia.

VI. Provided always, and be it further enacted, That no Officer or Non-commiffioned Officer, or Corporal, or Private Man of any of His Majefty's Forces or Marines, or of the Regular Militia, or Overseer, or Churchwarden of any Parish, or any other Perfon fhall enlift or perfuade to enlift any Man ferving in any Regiment of the Local Militia during any fuch Part of the Period of fuch Regiment being affembled for Training or Exercife, as fhall be prefcribed by His Majefty as the Period of Affembly, during which Perfons ferving in the Local Militia fhall not enlift; on Pain of forfeiting, for every fuch Offence, the Sum of Twenty Pounds, to be recovered as the like Penalty for enlifting a Militia Man may be recovered under any A& relating to the Militia.

VII. And be it further enacted, That all Deficiencies and Vacancies which fhall have arifen in the Local Militia, or which fhall bereafter arife by reason of any Private Men being made Corporals or Serjeants, or by reafon of any enlifting into the Regular Militia under any Act of this Seffion of Parliament, fhall be filled up and fupplied according to the Provifions of the faid recited Act and this Act and the feveral Acts relating to the Militia, as far as the fame are applicable.

VIII. And be it further enacted, That it fhall be lawful for the Deputy-LieuteDeputy Lieutenants of any County, in any Cafe in which it fhall appear to them to be neceffary or proper, by reafon of any Quotas of Local Militia of any Divifions of any County, or of any Parishes of any Divifion, which fhall have been fixed according to the original Quotas of the Regular Militia under the faid Act of the Forty-fecond Year aforefaid, being found by any Returns now made or which may here after be made, not to be in proportion to the relative Numbers of Men liable to serve in the Local Militia in fuch refpective Hundreds or Parishes, to make any new Apportionment and ascertain and fettle any Quotas of Local Militia as to any Divifions of any County, or as to any Parishes in any Divifion, either by any Alteration of the Proportions of any fuch Quotas of the Regular Militia under the Provifions of the faid A&t of the Forty fecond Year aforefaid, or by any new Apportionment as to fuch Divifions, or as to the Parishes in any Divifion according to the relative Numbers of Men liable to ferve in the Local Militia: Provided always, that all Quotas of Local Militia which fhall have been fettled and afcertained for any Divifions, or for any Parishes of any Divifion, fhall remain and be deemed to be the proper Quotas of fuch Divifions and Parishes refpectively, unless and until the Deputy-Lieutenants fhall deem it neceffary to alter and fhall have altered the fame, and fettled any new Quotas under the faid Act of the faid Forty-second Year aforefaid and this A&.

IX. Provided always, and be it further enacted, That it fhall be Lieutenancy lawful for the Lieutenant and Deputy Lieutenants at any General fhall fix by Ballot Meeting, and they are hereby required to afcertain and fix by Ballot the Order in the Order in which the refpective Subdivifions, Hundreds, and Parishes in their respective Counties fhall ftand as to the fupplying any Deficiencies or Vacancies that may exift or arife therein by reafon of the Appointment of any Perfons ferving in the Local Militia of any fuch County to be Serjeants or Corporals, and fhall, immediately after the fame fhall be fo afcertained and fixed, caufe fuch Subdivifions, Hundreds, and Parishes refpectively, to be entered in fuch Order, in a Lift to be prepared for that Purpose; and fuch Vacancies fhall be fupplied by fuch Subdivifions, Hundreds, and Parishes, in the Order in which they fhall have been entered in fuch Lift as aforefaid, and not by the Parishes to which the Men fo promoted fhall have served.

X. And be it further enacted, That in every Cafe in which the Number of Men enrolled in any Divifion, Hundred, or Parish of County, fhall be more than the relative Proportion of fuch Divifion, Hundred, or Parish, it fhall be lawful for the Deputy-Lieutenants at any General or Subdivifion Meetings for any County where any fuch Inequality fhall arife, to afcertain and fix by Bailot or otherwife, in what Manner the Surplus of Numbers of Men fo enrolled in any fuch Divifion, Hundred, or Parish, fhall be applied and apportioned among the other Divifions, Hundreds, or Parthes of fuch County, and how and in what Proportions, and in what Order any future Deficiencies and Vacancies are to be filled up and fupplied by fuch other Divifions, Hundreds, or Parishes as aforefaid.

XI. Provided always, and be it further enacted, That from and after the First Day of January One thoufand eight hundred and ten, fo much of the faid recited A&t as enacts that any Perfon who fhall voluntarily enrol himself to ferve in the Local Militia under the faid recited Act (except Members of Volunteer Corps transferring them

as to Members of felves) fhall be entitled to receive the Sum of Two Guineas, to be paid upon his Enrolment, over and above any Sum to which he may be entitled for Neceffaries, fhall be and the fame is hereby repealed: Provided always, that it fhall be lawful for the Churchwardens or Overfeers of the Poor of any Parish, with the Confent of the Inhabitants taken at a Veftry, or any other Meeting to be called and holden for that Purpofe, of which Five Days Publick Notice fhall be given, to agree to give a Bounty to any Perfons voluntarily enrolling themselves in the Local Militia for fuch Parish; provided that fuch Bounty or Sum of Money fhall in no Cafe exceed the Sum of Two Guineas for each Perfon, to be paid upon Enrolment, exclufive of Neceffaries; and fuch Sum for Bounties may and fhall be raised, and levied and collected in fuch Manner, and under fuch and the like Rules, Regulations, and Penalties, as any Sums allowed to be given to Volunteers for the Militia under an A&t paffed in the Forty-fecond Year of His prefent Majefty.

XII. Provided always, and be it further enacted, That the Whole of the Bounty which fhall have been paid to any Perfon enrolled in the Local Militia, whether the fame fhall have been paid by His Majefty, or by any Parish under the Provifions of the faid Act or this A&t, shall, if fuch Perfon fhall thereafter at any Period within One Year enlift into the Army, Navy, or Marines, be deducted from the Bounty payable to fuch Perfon upon fo enlifting; and if fuch Perfon fhall enlift at any Time after the Expiration of One Year and before the Expiration of Two Years, then Ore Half of fuch Bounty fhall be deducted as aforefaid, and the Amount so deducted fhall be accounted for, and be repaid to the Perfons by whom, or to the Account from which the Bounty fo deducted and repaid, fhall have been advanced.

XIII. And be it further enacted, That fo much of the faid recited Act as enacts or requires that any Sums of Money advanced or paid for the Bounties of Two Guineas allowed by the faid recited Act, to Perfons voluntarily enrolling themselves in the Local Militia, or transferring themselves from Volunteer Corps into the Local Militia, fhall be paid or repaid out of any County Rate, or affeffed upon any Parishes in any County, fhall be and the fame is hereby repealed, XIV. Provided always, and be it further enacted, that no Perfon transferring himself from any Volunteer Corps into the Local Militia under the Provifions of the faid recited A& or this Act, fhall be entitled to any Bounty upon being enrolled in the Local Militia, unless he fhall have been a Member of a Volunteer Corps before the paffing of this A&t, and fhall have continued a Member of a Volunteer Corps up to the Period of his transferring himself as aforesaid.

XV. And be it further enacted, That no Perfon who fhall transfer himfelf as a Member of a Volunteer Corps into the Local Militia, and fhall be thereupon enrolled in the Local Militia, fhall be liable to be called upon to be enrolled or ferve in the Regular Militia by reafon of his having been ballotted and entered for the Regular Militia, during the Period of his having been a Member of a Volunteer Corps; any Thing in any Act or Acts to the contrary notwithftarding.

XVI. And be it further enacted, That it fhall be lawful for the Lord Lieutenant of any County, or for any Colonel or Commanding Officer of any Regiment or Regiments, Battalion or Battalions, or Corps of Volunteers who fhall transfer himfelf into the Local
