A&t, enlist as a Royal Marine in His Majesty's Service, unlefs fuch mentioned in Apprentice fhall have been bound to him in England for the full Term Schedule (B.) of Seven Years, and if in Ireland for the full Term of Five Years at the &c. leaft, and unless fuch Mafter fhall within One Calendar Month after fuch Apprentice fhail have abfconded or left his Service, go before fome Juftice of the Peace or Magiftrate, and before fuch Juftice of the Peace or Magiftrate take the Oath mentioned in the Schedule to this A&t annexed marked (B.), and produce the Certificate of fuch Juftice of the Peace or Magiftrate of his having taken fuch Oath, which Certificate fuch Juftice of the Peace or Magiftrate is hereby required to give in the Form in the Schedule to this A& annexed, marked (C).

An Act for allowing the Importation and Exportation of certain Goods and Commodities into and from the Port of Falmouth in the Ifland of Jamaica. [24th March 1809.]

WH

HEREAS by an A&t paffed in the Forty-fifth Year of His prefent Majefty's Reign, intituled, An A&t to confolidate and extend the feveral Laws now in force for allowing the Importation and Exportation of certain Goods and Merchandize into and from 'certain Ports in the West Indies, a certain limited Trade is per'mitted to be carried on at certain Ports in the Ifland of Jamaica in Foreign Veffels of a particular Defcription: And whereas it is deemed proper and expedient that fuch Trade fhould in like Manner be permitted at the Port of Falmouth in the faid Ifland;' Be it enacted by the King's moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament affembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That from and after the paffing of this A&t all fuch Goods and Commodities as are by the faid Act permitted to be imported extended to the into and exported from the Ports in the Ifland of Jamaica, mentioned in the faid A&t, may be imported into and exported from the Port of Falmouth in the said Island, in the same Sort of Vessels, under the fame Rules, Conditions, Regulations, and Reftrictions, and fubject to the like Penalties and Forfeitures for the Breach thereof, as are described, provided, and impofed in the faid Act, refpecting the Importation and Exportation of Goods and Commodities into and from the Ports mentioned in the faid Act.

THEREAS certain Distillers in Great Britain are in the
Practice of re-fermenting and re-diftilling Wafh commonly
• called Spent Wafb, after the fame has been through the Still: -And

" whereas Doubts have arifen whether fuch Wafh fo re-fermented is chargeable as new Wert or Wash: Now, for obviating all fuch Doubts,' be it declared and enacted by the King's moft Excellent Majelty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament affembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That all fuch Spent Wafh which Spent Wash fhall be fermented or re-fermented for the Purpofe of being diftilled re-diftilled thall into Spirits, fhall be deemed and taken to be New Worts or Wash be charged with to all Intents and Purposes whatsoever, and shall also be chargeable and charged with all the Duties to which Wort or Wafh brewed or made for extracting Spirits, are or may be liable; and all fuch Spent Wath which fhall be fo fermented or re-fermented as aforefaid, fhall alfo be, and is hereby declared to be fubject and liable to all and fingular the Rules, Regulations, Reftrictions, and Provifions contained in any Act or Acts of Parliament in force at and immediately before the paffing of this Act, relating to the Diltillation of Spirits.

An Act to permit, until the Twenty-fifth Day of March One thoufand eight hundred and eleven, the Importation of Tobacco into Great Britain from any Place whatever.

WHEREAS it is exght into Great Britain, from Countries

HEREAS it is expedient to permit, for a limited Time,

Unmanufactured Tobcaco may be imported into

Great Britain fubject to the from any Port, Duties payable on British Plantation Tobacco,

and fhall on

and Places from whence, under the Laws now in force, it cannot legally be imported;' Be it therefore enacted by the King's most Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament affembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That, from and after the paffing of this Act, it fhall be lawful for any Perfon or Perfons to import into Great Britain, from any Port or Place whatever in any Foreign State, or from Malta or Gibraltar, any Sort of Unmanufactured Tobacco in any British Ship or Veffel owned, navigated, and registered according to Law, or in any Ship or Veffel belonging to any Country or State in Amity with His Majefty, navigated in any Man ner whatever; and fuch Tobacco fhall be fubject and liable to fuch Duties of Customs and Excife, and no other, as fhall be due and payable on Tobacco of the Produce of the British Plantations; and fuch Tobacco fhall, on due Exportation, be entitled to fuch Drawbacks of the Duties of Customs and Excife, as are paid and allowed on the Exportation of Tobacco of the Produce of the British Flantations, any Law, Cuftom, or Ufage, to the contrary notwithtanding: Provided always, that all Tobacco imported by virtue of this Act, fhall be entered and landed only in fuch Ports in Great Britain, where To bacco is or may be allowed to be entered and landed; and that such Tobacco may in fuch Ports be lodged and fecured in Warehouses approved of by the Commiffioners of the Cuftoms in England and Scotland refpectively, under the Regulations of an A& paffed in the Twentyninth Year of His prefent Majefty's Reign, intituled, An A&t for 29 G. 3. c. 68. repealing the Duties on Tobacco and Snuff, and for granting new Duties

in lieu thereof, or of any other Act or Acts paffed lince, relative to the

warehoufing of Tobacco.

II. Provided alfo, and be it further enacted, That all Tobacco fail be fubject imported into or exported from Great Britain, by virtue and in pursuance of this A&t, fhall be and the fame is hereby made fubject and liable to all and every the Conditions, Regulations, Rules, Reftrictions, Penalties, and Forfeitures to which any Tobacco of the Growth of the British Plantations is or may be fubject and liable to, by any Act or Acts of Parliament in force on or immediately before the paffing of this A&; and all and every Pain, Penalty, Fine, or Forfeiture for any Offence whatever committed againft or in breach of any Act or Acts of Parliament made for fecuring the Revenues of Cuftoms and Excife, or for the Regulation or Improvement thereof, and the feveral Claufes, Powers, and Directious therein contained, fhall and are hereby directed and declared to extend to, and fhall be refpectively applied, practifed, and put in Execution, for and in refpect of Tobacco imported into or exported from Great Britain, by virtue and in purfuance of this Act, fo far as the fame are applicable thereto, in as full and ample a Manner to all Intents and Purposes whatever, as if all and every the faid Claufes, Provifions, Powers, Directions, Pains, Penalties, and Forfeit ures were particularly repeated and re-enacted in the Body of this prefent A&.

III. And be it further enacted, That it fhall and may be lawful by Order in Council to permit the Importation into Great Britain. as aforefaid, of unmanufactured Tobacco, being the Produce of the East Indies. or of any of the Spanish or Portuguese Colonies or Plantations South America, packed in any Sort of Packages whatfoever, upon such Conditions and under fuch Regulations and Reftrictions as fhall be impofed and provided in any fuch Order, any Thing in any Act or Acts to the contrary in anywife notwithstanding.

An Act for allowing until the Twenty-fifth Day of March One
thoufand eight hundred and ten, the Importation of certain
Fish from Parts of the Coaft of His Majefty's North American
Colonies; and for granting a Bounty thereon.

WHEREAS it is deemed reasonable and proper that the End

couragement given to the Fisheries carried on from the Ifland of Newfoundland, and Coast of Labrador, by an Act paffed in the Forty-feventh Year of His prefent Majefty's Reign, intituled, An ¦ A for allowing until the First Day of Auguft One thousand eight hundred and eight, the Importation of certain Fish from Newfoundland, and the Coast of Labrador, and for granting a Bounty thereon, which has been continued by an Act of the Forty-eighth Year of His prefent Majesty, until the Twenty-fifth Day of March One thoufand eight hundred and ten, fhould be extended to the Fisheries carried on by the Inhabitants of certain of His Majefty's Colonies on the Continent of North America;' Be it enacted by the King's moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament affembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That from and after the paffing of this Act, any Salted or Pickled Salmon, or Salted Dry Cod

Fish, having been taken and cured at the Coaft of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, the Coast of the Bay of Fundy, the Coalt of Cape Breton, or the Coaft of Prince Edward's Island by Britib Subjects, may be imported from any of the faid Places into this Kingdom, any Law, Cuftom, or Ufage to the contrary notwithstanding.

II. And be it further enacted, that upon the Importation of such Fish into this Kingdom, and alfo upon the Importation of fuch Fifh into the Islands of Guernsey or Jersey, from any of the faid Coats and Places, there fhall be allowed and paid the fame Bounty, and the fame Rules, Conditions, Regulations, and Reftrictions, fubject to the fame Penalties and Forfeitures for the Breach thereof, thall be applied to the Importation of fuch Fish, the Payment of Bounty thereon, and the Exportation thereof, as is and are allowed, made, provided and impofed by the faid Act, in the Cafe of fuch Fish imported into this Kingdom, and the Ilands of Guernsey and Jersey refpectively, from the Inland of Newfoundland and the Coaft of Labrador. An Act for eftablishing Courts of Judicature in the Island of Newfoundland and the Iflands adjacent; and for re-annexing Part of the Coast of Labrador and the Inlands lying on the faid Coaft to the Government of Newfoundland. [30th March 1809.] W HEREAS an A&t was made in the Thirty-third Year of the Reign of His prefent Majefty, intituled, An Ad for eftablishing Courts of Judicature in the Island of Newfoundland and the Islands adjacent; which, by feveral fubfequent A&ts, has been continued until the Twenty-fifth Day of March One thoufand eight hundred and nine: And whereas it is expedient that the Provifions of the faid Act • should be amended, and the like Courts of Judicature as were thereby inftituted, be established and made perpetual ;' Be it therefore enacted by the King's molt Excellent M jefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament affembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That it fhall and may be lawful for His Majefty, by his Commiffion under the Great Seal, to inftitute a Court of Criminal and Civil Jurifdiction, to be called The Supreme Court of Judicature of the Inland of New inftitute a Court foundland," with full Power and Authority to hold Plea of all Crimes of Criminal and and Mildemeanors committed within the Island of Newfoundland, on Civil Jurifdiction the Iflands of Saint Pierre and Miquelon, and on the Islands and Seas at Newfoundto which Ships or Veffels repair from the Ifland of Newfoundland for carrying on the Fishery, and on the Barks of Newfoundland, in the fame Manner as Plea is holden of fuch Crimes and Mildemeanors in that Part of Great Britain called England, and alfo with full Power and Authority to hold Plea in a fuminary Way of all Suits, and Com. plaints of a Civil Nature arifing within the liland of Newfoundland, on the Iflands of Saint Pierre and Miquelon, and on the lands and Seas aforefaid, and on the Banks of Newfoundland and in Great Britain or Ireland; which Court fhall determine fuch Suits and Complaints of a Civil Nature according to the Law of England. as far as the fame can be applied to Saits and Complaints arifing in the Islands
