The role: IT Auditor

Google accountants are a savvy bunch who handle the core accounting responsibilities at Google. As a member of this team, you know your accounting principles and the full accounting process end to end. You'll advise on financial reports required by governmental regulations, and you'll review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports -- and all this sounds like fun to you. Every day is a new challenge, and you're continually looking for ways to help our team get better at what we do, in the most efficient way possible. A team player at heart, you collaborate with our global team, evangelize best practices and roll up your sleeves to pitch in when it's all hands on deck. You move fast while keeping your attention to detail, and you tap into your problem-solving skills to support Google's business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute financial and operating audit programs, including SOX audits, operational process reviews and review of system implementations, applications and other IT-related risk areas
  • Prepare audit reports to document audit scope, procedures, findings and recommendations and manage work requirements and budget to meet assigned initiatives; work with management and users to interpret the significance of audit findings, conclude on findings and make practical recommendations
  • Communicate with and educate process owners on the importance of controls, an effective control environment, and the role of Corporate Audit; conceive and lead ad hoc analyses of financial and IT data to assist other areas of the audit function; develop repeatable methods to ensure a consistent result and help develop an internal knowledge base
  • Work in cross-functional teams (including engineering, product management, sales operations, and finance) to help create integrated system requirements and provide IT controls expertise
  • Champion process re-engineering by challenging the status quo of current processes and suggesting improvements or alternatives

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or Engineering; in lieu of degree 4 years of relevant work experience.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 4 years of experience in IT Systems Audit, IT security or equivalent experience; privacy audit experience, working with PII (personally identifiable information) understanding the requirements around handling the transfer, storage and access of confidential data
  • CISA / CISSP / CIPP (Certified Information Privacy Professional) or related experience.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, teamwork, and organizational skills
  • Leadership skills (ability to take charge, confidence to interact with all levels, set objectives, drive results, and a team player); ability to work in a fast paced environment and navigate through ambiguity
